Boyz II Men came on the music scene in 1988 as a quintet at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts; the group was originally named Unique Attraction. When original member Marc Nelson left the group to go solo before their first record deal, the group became a quartet; the members were Nathan Morris, Wayne Morris, Shawn Stockman and Michael McCray. Boyz II Men hit number 1on the pop charts with their single “End of the Road” one of my all time favorites in 1992, this single would break a record for staying at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 weeks breaking a decades-old record held by Elvis Presley. Boyz II Men would not stop there, they had two more hits “I’ll Make Love to You” and “One Sweet Day” (with Mariah Carey) these two singles exceeded the records they had previously set. Boyz II Men got their inspiration from New Edition’s, Boyz II Men went back stage at a Bell Biv DeVoe concert were they met Michael Bivins an aspiring producer and sung “Can You Stand the Rain” cappella and the rest is history. Boyz II Men is a trio now, Michael McCary has left the group in 2003 due to health issues. Boyz II Men is the most amazing and successful R&B group they have sold 60 million albums worldwide this number is still growing. Boyz II Men has another album out called “Twenty” the two songs I really like are “More Than You Ever Know (Ft. Charlie Wilson) and “So Amazing”. Lalah Hathaway

Born Eulaulah Donyll Hathaway on December 16, 1968 Chicago Illinois, better known as Lalah Hathaway. Lalah is the daughter of the late great Donny Hathaway, one of my all time favorite singer, songwriters and producer. Lalah lost her father when she was ten years old, but she has her fathers flare for words and writing songs that have something to say.
When Lalah was growing up she was around music, at the age of three she was taking piano lessons. Lalah attended Berklee in Boston in the late 1980s, there is where she perfected her craft and grew into the singer/songwriter she is today. While at Berklee she released her first album title “Lalah Hathaway” 1990, the single from that album “Heaven Knows” is still one of my favorites. Lalah has performed with some amazing artist like on Grover Washington’s album “Next Exit” the song “Love Like This” is a beautiful song. .Lalah is versatile she has worked with other artist like Take 6, Mary J Blige, The Winans and Marcus Miller. Lalah collaborated with jazz legend Joe Sample on the album “The Song Lives On”.
This album shows off Lalah’s vocal range. I say some of these singers that are supposed to be superstars need to take lessons from Lalah on how to sing. Lalah is not only a singer/song writer she is also the National Ambassador for the Circle of Promise. This organization was created by Susan G. Komen for the Cure; Lalah has influence women to get to get the test for breast cancer along with family member. Lalah has a new album “Where It all Begins” due to be released on October 18, 2011. I really like and enjoy listening to Lalah Hathaway she is an amazing singer/ songwriter. You can listen to Lalah Hathaway on Streetwise Radio.

Chelsey Bell grew up in Houston, TX and has always had a strong passion for music. With a supportive mother who loved RanB/Soul music and a father who was an amazing vocalist himself, she discovered that she had a talent that the world deserved to experience. Growing up she listened to many different genres of music, and when she graduated from high school, she began to pursue her gift and perform in local talent competitions and open mic venues around Houston. While performing at the Red Cat Jazz Café, a popular restaurant and performance venue in the heart of Houston, she met Aaron Johnson, Senior Vice President of Creative Marketing for Bungalo/Universal Music group. He saw something that he knew would make her a household name and heard what he knew everyone else deserved to experience.

While Chelsey continued to work full time and pursue her education at the University of Houston full time, she found the time to record a 5 song demo with Lab Ox Productions. The result was a completed and professional demo CD with songs that sounded ready for radio airplay. Having lost touch with Aaron while pursuing so many endeavors, she decided that she’d send her demo to him just to hear his thoughts. He immediately called her when he heard the quality of her song content and the production and he started to make moves toward getting her into the studio and onto the radio.

In the beginning of 2010, Chelsey went to Dallas, TX to record a song with producer Goldfinger. There she made the hit song, “Keep It Jumpin”, and it began to take off. DJs in the South loved the song and clubs that added it to their set list received an overwhelming response from the crowd. Currently she is still riding on the high of the success from that record and is planning to start a college tour to continue promoting it. Chelsey also plans to get back in the studio with Lab Ox as well as other great producing talents and it would seem that the sky is the limit for this up and coming performer.

Amy Winehouse was a singer that lived a fast turbulent life. Amy grew up
in a Jewish family were she was introduced to Jazz at an early age. Amy’s
grandmother wanted her to attend Susi Earnshaw Theatre School to get more
musical training. Amy went there for four years before she was kicked out
at the age of 14 for “not applying herself” and for piercing her nose. I
guess you can say that was the start of her rebellious side. When Amy was
ten she started a rap group call Sweet ’n’ Sour with her childhood friend.
At the age of 13 Amy’s music career started, she began as an
entertainment journalist for the World Entertainment News Networks,
singing with Bolsa Band and writing music. In 2002 she signed to Simon
Fuller’s 19
Management, they were keeping her secret. In 2003 Frank Amy’s debut album
was released it had a Jazz influence, she co-wrote every song on the album
and it went platinum in 2004.Girl groups of the 60s was Amy’s greatest
love, she copied the beehive hairdo and the Cleopatra makeup from The
Ronettes, Amy’s look was unique. Amy’s Back to Black album came out in
2006; it had the song “Rehab” on it. I like the song “Rehab” it’s a catchy
song. I guess this song was probably a rebellious denial of her problem.
Maybe she should have gone to Rehab. While writing this bog I listened to
the Frank and the Back to Black albums, I was pleasantly surprised they
were actually good albums. I like the Frank album the most it has that
Jazzy old time fell. In 2008 Amy’s Black to Black won all of awards.
Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal
Performance for the single “Rehab”, and her Back to Black album was
nominated for Album of the Year but won Best Pop Vocal Album award. Amy
was a talented singer song writer who got caught up in the drugs, like all
the greats who died at the age of 27, Jimi Hendricks, Kurt Corbain and
Janis Joplin and many more artists. Amy Winehouse will be missed by her
fans; it’s a shame she won’t be here to continue giving her fans her music
for years to come.

Wow! I can hardly believe that Streetwise Radio has been on the air for two years. I remember when Michael Ealey said “Lynn we’re going to have a radio station.” When we started off we had all of, I think three people listening now there are hundreds all over the world listening to Streetwise Radio. Our R an B ratings at live365.com has moved us from 17 to 11 out of 440 stations in just one month. This is due to Michael finding and playing music from new artists that the other radio stations are not playing, like Kenya, Arika Kane, Bodine Johnson & Jae Franklin just to name a few. We’re not only an R & B station. We also cater to the Jazz lovers with DJ Michelle I on the Jazz Café. This show is on from 12 pm to 1pm everyday so you can get your Expresso on at lunch time. We even extend the Jazz Café for an extra hour, on some occasions. For all you who like Reggae there is Big Splif’s 4:20 Reggae from 4:30pm to 5:30pm and Irie Vision World Beat TV with host Carmelita Harris. You can watch Carmelita’s show on the Streetwise Radio website. All you have to do is join our website by registering and log in for the streaming video of Irie Vision. My favorite show is Soul City from 6pm to 7pm with DJ Peter Cirivilleri. Yes this Italian soul brother plays classic soul music from past to present. Streetwise Radio even has something for the younger Hip Hop fan. The Streetwise Big Hop 7pm to 8pm every day. It’s a party on Fridays & Saturdays from 11pm to 12pm. Streetwise Ultra Mix is a mixture of R & B, Soul, Jazz, Reggae & Hip Hop. This is the main play list. This video is amazing, Timothy Bloom captures the meaning of true love in this video. The way the words coming out of their mouths while they hold each other OMG! Some People are getting to caught up on the nudity of the video, if they would just sit back and concentrate on the words the nudity doesn’t matter. This is a expression of love, a love that only a few of us will know in our life time. There are some other videos with people with clothes on that come across trashy and really sexual. I think Timothy Bloom did a good job portraying their closeness and vulnerability. I have a feeling this song is going to be use in a lot of weddings. I loved it!

Phoebe Ann Snow was best known for her song “Poetry Man”. Phoebe passed on April 27, 2011 at the age of 60 from complications of a stroke she had
suffered in 2010. Phoebe’s personal life was challenging, she was a single mom of a severely brain damaged girl. Phoebe was told by the doctors that
her daughter would not live past a toddler years, but she lived to be 31 years. Phoebe professional career started in 1972 at the Bitter End club, where Denny Cordell a promotion executive for Shelter Records saw her perform. Phoebe signed with Shelter Records and released her first album titled Phoebe Snow. From this album the hit single “Poetry Man”, a beautiful song that Phoebe wrote, put her on the map as one of the best songwriters and singers of that era. During Phoebe’s professional career,she performed with artist of all styles like The Persuasions, Zoot Sims,
Teddy Wilson, David Bromberg and Dave Mason, Paul Simon, Linda Ronstadt,
Lou Rawls, Boz Scaggs, Take 6, Mavis Staples, Bonnie Raitt, Donald Fagen, Billy Joel, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Black Mambazo, Jackson Brown just to name a few. In 2010 prior to her stroke Phoebe had planned to release a new album. I wonder what this album is going to sound like, it probably will be good because phoebe could write and sing. Phoebe Snow was a Bluesy,Jazzy Folk singer that had a unique voice that will be missed, but will

The first time I heard of Marsha Ambrosius was when she was with the Soul/
R&B duo Floetry with Natalie Stewart. A friend had just bought the album we were listening to it and it was good. Floetic was the name of the album it had two top ten singles “Say Yes” and “Getting Late”. Marsha Ambrosius solo career has her collaborating with artist of different genres like Styles P’s “I’m back”, The Game’s “Start from Scratch”, “Why You Hate The
Game” (also featuring Nas), Busta Rhymes’ “Get You Some” and “Cocanina”,Nas “Hustlers” (also featuring The Game), Hi-Tek’s “Music for Life” and Jamie Foxx’s Freak’in Me”. In 2009 Marsha Ambrosius landed herself a placement with R&B and Hip Hop artists Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, Mario,
Fabulous, Slum Village and Wale. Also in 2009, a number of record labels approached Marsha Ambrosius offering her a record deal. After she performed at the SOB’s concert companied by The Roots in NYC, she signed

Wyclef Jean Supposedly Shot In Hand

Wyclef Jean thought he was shot in the hand while he was in Haiti, supporting Michael “Sweet Micky” Martelly for president. Wyclef was in the car with Busta Ryhmes, he got out of the car to make a phone call and shots rang out. Wyclef panicked and thought he was shot in the hand
because he saw blood on his shirt and sneakers. The doctors reported that he was only cut by glass. Wyclef was going to run for president, but he was disqualified, because he lives in the United States. I think it was a
blessing that he was disqualified, because Haiti is so corrupted he probably would have been assassinated before he got into office. Who knows if they were shooting at him or was it meant for someone else is yet to be determined. Thank God it was not serious, because it would have been
ashamed to have loose a talent and humanitarian.

The Band Description

In June, 2001 Shakim, a 5 times platinum (5 million

records sold) producer, who has worked with Akon, Kelly

and the lead singer. He was classically trained in 4

Biography of Shun Ward

Christopher DeShun Ward was born on February 16, 1988 in Tyler, Texas. He is the only child to his mother, Pamela Ward. Shortly after his birth, Shun’s mother relocated to Houston, Texas.
At the age of three, his mother and great grandmother discovered that he loved to sing. He had an incredible voice and a talent for remembering church songs. When he was five years old, he was invited to sing and travel with the New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church Choir. They performed at many churches around Houston. Throughout their travels, Shun became very well known and gained much respect around the community for his strong vocals.
Eventually, at age seven, his great grandmother (who was one of the church organizers) asked if he would like to become the lead singer of The New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church choir. Shun was excited to take on the responsibility.
Later and away from his gospel roots, Shun began performing at talent shows around the north side of Houston. He would go on to win a youth choir competition at Forest Brook High School where he competed against 14-15 year olds.
At fourteen years old Shun continued to compete at several different talent shows and also experimented with writing and recording original material. Unfortunately, as he honed his writing skills, he also became influenced by the corruption of the inner city. His school grades declined as he started smoking and selling illegal substances.
Then seventeen years old Shun and his mother moved to Nacogdoches after his great grandmother passed away. Shun was distraught.
At eighteen he joined a group called the Get Some with no success.
At nineteen he joined a group called Smash Click. He helped write several songs with the Smash Click. This was another failed venture.
At twenty-one, he was incarcerated for a year. After his release, he vowed to change his life and get back to the things that he loved most- singing, writing, and recording.
At twenty-two, more mature and focused, he requested help from family to make his dreams come true. Together they formed GruvSoul with Shun Ward as the premiere artist. A star is born!
Shun is presently working on his debut 2011 album release entitled, Shun Ward City. The first four tracks of the project entitled, The Prelude to Shun Ward City, is available throughout the internet.

Fede4real (born Federico Manuel Nomo Fernandez December 3 1981) is a singer, keyboardist songwriter, producer, performer, filmmaker, actor and fashion model. The first thing that comes to your mind when you listen to Fede4real is talent but there is a story behind that talent. It’s a story that begins in Equatorial Guinea (Africa). Raised with his mother (Spanish) and his father (Equatorial Guinea) at early age Fede learned to play piano with his father, a great jazz guitar player. He played blues and jazz as kid while being influenced by African percussions just for the love of it without knowing what the future hold for him. When he was 12 years old his family moved from Africa to Spain. Fede then took classic piano and singing lessons and singing at church shaped his high tone voice. When he turned 18 years old Fede got into modelling. Soon he was selected for cast in major TV commercials, top fashion editorials and top fashion shows. Fede has worked in commercials and printing ads all around Europe, has shot commercials in Europe and U.S, and grace top fashion magazines like Maxim, Vanity and Marie Claire. Fede also walked the Madrid Fashion Week shows many times, the biggest fashion date in Spain and has worked as sport and fitness model and hosted many awards. Fede joined a boy band named 6L1 in 2003. The group was conceived NSYNC alike. Fede took the lead in the group teaching singing and being the lead singer. He started to write his own songs for the group in 2003 but lack of work from some members made the project fail. He then did hide for years, improving his singing and production while writing songs. After working in his first demo, Fede decided to go straight for his debut album REBIRTH 03.12.06. Fede4real wrote and produced the album. Fede directed and produced 2 music videos for REBIRTH 03.12.06. It included R&B pop beautiful ballads and mid-tempo tunes but somehow he was not satisfied with the sound and cancelled promotion. It was after this album that Fede describes as a “learning experience” that he defined his trademark sound. Moving closer to the roots of black music FUNK TEMPLE is an album with beautiful compositions and arrangements. He played keyboards guitar and drums and overall wrote produced the album. At first the album was conceived as a funky album with a fresh urban sound with the aim of rediscover the genre to the youngest generations. Surprisingly Funk Temple ended being a tribute to all the great black music from XX century. Twelve songs that cover most Fede4real influences: Jazz, blues, Funk, gospel, R&B and hip-hop. Fede has presented his album live in NYC at The Sugar Bar venue hosted by the legendary Motown songwriters Ashford and Simpson, 40C bar and other small intimate venues in NYC. Funk Temple did hit radio stations worldwide from Netherlands to NY with great feedback from the jazz neo-soul and R&B field. The opening track “Ebony Seduction” got great airplay in the UK and was included in the best of the year selection of Dazzling Soul independent blog. Fede has also shot and directed a music video for his funky hit “Maybe” in NYC that includes special effects. The video is currently finalist at a national music video contest in Canal Cuatro Spain. Last year he released another video for the soulful bluesy ballad “Since you’ve been gone”. A music video for the inspirational contemporary gospel song “Dreams” is in the making. Fede started composing for his third project During the Funk Temple tour in August. He has recently finish the album called JAZZYLICOUS and will be released in November 1st 2010 an album with a heavier jazz influence than its predecessor. An album that will strengthen his position as one of the singers songwriters to watch the coming years. His best work to date an intimate album that includes jazz soul funky and fusion sounds with Fede4real trademark sound.

“Committed” an all-male gospel group from Huntsville, Alabama wins the second season of NBC’s The Sing-Off. They sing acapella with such range and depth it’s hard to believe that there are no instruments in the background. If you missed the second season of The Sing Off you can still see full episodes on-line at NBC’s website.

All of the groups in the show were exceptional this season but “Committed” was outstanding and deserved to win the grand prize: a recording contract and $100,000.

According to the brief history of the group given on the show, “Committed” was founded in 2003 by four high school students at Forest Lake Academy. The group stayed together as they progressed to Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama where they continued to perform together. The members of the group include Geston Pierre, Robbie Pressley, Tommy Gervais, Dennis Baptiste, Maurice Staple and Therry Thomas. Although they sing mainly inspirational gospel music they have such range to do a wide variety music which they demonstrated so well on the show.

From the beginning “Committed” was very consistent in their performances with various members of the group taking the lead vocals; the harmonies and booming bass lines were amazing to hear. Quincy Jones has been around for five decades as a record producer, conductor, musical arranger, film composer and television producer. Q called by his friends, fell in love with music in elementary school. Being the typical kid he tried just about all the instruments and fell in love with to trumpet. Quincy befriended Ray Charles when he was in his early teens and they formed a combo playing small clubs and weddings.
When Quincy was 18 he won a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. Quincy got a offer to go on the road with bandleader Lionel Hampton, so he dropped out of school.

This experience led him too becoming a free lance arranger in the 50's.
He wrote music for some of the greats like Tommy Dorsey, Gene Krupa, Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Dinah Washington, Cannonball Adderley and Ray Charles. Quincy arranged for Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Dinah Washington these were some of the most important artist in the 60's. Quincy Jones, 1962 song Soul Bossa Nova came from the Big Band Bossa Nova album. Soul Bossa Nova song were in motion picture The Pink Panther and Austin Powers. Quincy Jones wanted to re-record with Miles Davis some of his classics albums, but Miles refused him he didn't want to revisit the past. Suffering from pneumonia in 1991 Miles Davis agreed to perform some of his music from the past at the Montreux Jazz Festival with Quincy Jones. This duo resulted in the recording, Miles & Davis Live at Montreux. This was Davis last recording, he died several months after. Quincy Jones and David Salzman got to together and produced An American Reunion concert extravaganza for President Bill Clinton's inauguration. From this collaboration they formed the company Quincy Jones/David Salzman Entertainment. Quincy Jones produced Michael Jackson Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad albums. This made Quincy the most powerful record producer in the music industry.

Now Quincy Jones has done it again he has a new album out called Soul Bossa Nostra. Quincy has a collaboration of artist from different genres of music. This album has Snoop Dog singing and rapping "Get the Funk Out of My Face" in his laid back style. "It's My Party" song by Amy Winehouse you might want to turn the volume down. Talib Kweli is featured on the "Ironside" song and I must say I like it a lot. "Give Me the Night" Jamie Foxx is blowing like always. Akon in featured on Strawberry Letter 23 a Brothers Johnson song one of my old time favorites. Bebe Winans is singing "Everything Must Change" a beautiful song. John Legend sings "Tomorrow".

Jennifer Hudson putting her heart in "You Put A Move on My Heart". These are some of the artist and songs on Soul Bossa Nostra. This album has a little something for everyone. Quincy is headed in my opinion for a Grammy nomination or possibly a Grammy for this album. Go out and get it you won't be disappointed.

The Live band Ganesh,is the brainchild of the Sicilian born DJ/Producer,Enzo Ponzio whom with this project has the vision of bringing World class music not only to the dancefloor but also,to all fans of good,original Live music.Enzo calved out a name out for himself in the fashion metropolis of the world, Milano,after he decided to leave his place of birth,the sundrenched Isle of Sicily where he had already been well known for his trail blazing Dj sets since the late 80's when it all began to take an the fashion Metropolis of the world,Milano.After arriving in Milano he soon became very popular with his blend of Electronica/Nu-jazz/Broken-beats and Funk in many fashion bars in Milano including the exclusive Rialto club,where was the Resident Dj. With the assistance of Carmelo di Grande on keyboard’s including Rhodes and the Clavinet with other talented Italian musicians they brought together Ganesh’s debut album “Sopra la Soglia” released in December 2002 through Scenario Records.The album was a mixture of Nu-jazz/Bossanova/Broken-Beats/Electronica and Funk, upon it’s release it put Ganesh firmly on the map as one of the many fine connoisseurs of Nu-jazz in the whole of Italy next to top artist’s like Nicola Conte also from Italy. In the beginning of 2005 Ganesh hooked up with the dance DJ,Peppe Pappalardo who also Dj’d in many fashion bar’s in Milano including The Yguana. While still working with Carmello di Grande they started work on their second album ”Club 21”. While working on “Club21” Enzo became one of the Dj’s on the German radio station,Radio 42. His show the “the Blue Set” a mixture of Nu-Jazz/Electronica/Funk/RnB and other abstract beats brought him respect not only in Italy where he is loved but also abroad. After hearing a track by the South African born singer,Marlon Cherry who was based in the U.K on Radio 42, Ganesh made plans to get him involved with the group not only to lay down vocals on Club21 but also to write and perform in English for them, which so took place and within some time they had completed Writing,Producing and Mixing the second album “Club 21” in their Milano Studio,with all the components of the band firmly in place. The style of “Club21” didn’t stray too far from the debut album although some aspects of Hip Hop,Soul and RnB were brought to “Club 21” by the African born Singer/Songwriter. “Club 21” was released in June 2005,again on Scenario Record’s adding to the kudos Ganesh had already gained with “Sopra La Soglia” amongst his musical counterparts. Many tracks from “Club 21” found their way onto numerous important compilations including The Martini Mood’s compilations which featured some of the heavyweights of the Lounge music genre like Boozoo Bojou and Mo' Horizons. This compilation was released on top German lounge label “Stereo Deluxe” and accompanied a Martini ad campaign on television across Europe featuring George Clooney over the Christmas period which ran for 4 years,every festive season. 2005 was full of ups and downs for Ganesh notably Enzo and Peppe being voted by GQ magazine to be in the top 30 DJ’s throughout Italy. Both DJ’s went on too play their Funky House set’s (no faster than 120 bpm’s) to the whole of Italy and the World on the net on the biggest National radio station in Italy,” Play Radio” for the wildly popular Saturday night show “La noche Escobrosa” playing next too international heavyweights such as Rui da Silva and Andrea Bertolini to name but a few... In the same year the band were chosen by MTV for the MTV Sunset Tour playing live with the band then followed by stomping Dj sets from Enzo and Peppe at some of thee most spectacular seaside venue’s in Italy including the world famous “Nikki Beach” in Sardinia. The group played their live sets next to “Juan Ribas” from Ibiza c/o the club Space and DJ Raven from France who is the resident DJ at the world famous fashion bar, “The Bhudda Lounge” in Paris. Sadly at the end of 2005 DJ Peppe passed away inspiring the group to write the the third album "Life in Beautiful" which they not only dedicated to their fallen soldier,Dj Peppe but to life itself! The track "Brother we really Miss You" was written in memory of his life and times with the group. Dj Peppe's passing left an empty void in the group but with their partner’s spirit in their heart they persevered,then wrote and produced their third studio album “Life is Beautiful” which they have dedicated to the Life and times of their fallen Brother,DJ Peppe. With the semi completion of the third album in 2006 Ganesh were again offered the MTV Sunset tour only this time they played next too top act’s like Skin(Skunk Anansie), Zero 7 ,Soulwax/Too many DJ’s to packed out crowds of about 20000 people a show,which remain the biggest gigs to date for the group. In the same year the group also completed a successful National tour of Italia with "Absolut Vodka-Absolut Tracks" as well. As precursor to the release of "L.I.B",Scenario Music physically re-released the groups initial two albums in 2007 in a well packaged box set,this box set was called "The Wonderful World of Ganesh",following on from this the initial single from "Life is Beautiful" was “We are Ganesh” which was released on Italian radio and is still receiving airplay on various radio station’s around the Globe at the moment, including some airplay in Marlon’s Country of birth South Africa also Germany,Finland and Monaco to name but a few countries who warmed to it. The second single is a cover chosen by Dj Enzo,having spun it as a teenager and is a cover originally by London Beat, “I’ve been Thinking about You” which features two cracking Remixes,with the Urban Remix featuring Italy's own Bad Boy Hip Hop Star "Dj Thor el T" and is being spun on the airwaves in Europe, U.S.A and Internationally on the net.The track in all its guises is receiving massive airplay and is available at all online mp3 stores including the largest ones E-music, Amazon and the biggest,I Tunes. Dru Hill's musical style is sort of a cross between the smooth, gentleman-like 'Boyz II Men', and the self-proclaimed "bad boys of R&B", 'Jodeci'...a band who's often criticized Dru Hill for allegedly imitating their on-stage style!

In reality, Dru Hill's two major influences were 'Stevie Wonder' and 'The New Edition', however, their best songs were writtin by either themselves or by producers 'Daryl Simmons', 'Keith Sweat', and 'Babyface'.

The early years were very interesting. Prior to becoming Dru Hill, they were all middle school buddies pursuing music careers, when, finally, 'Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin' founded the band....which included lead singer 'Mark "Sisqo" Andrews', 'Larry "Jazz" Anthony', and 'James "Woody Rock" Green'.

Their first gig was actually at a local fudge factory, where they not only made fudge together, but would sing and perform to entertain guests as well! (Still a tradition at "The Fudgery" in Baltimore)

The group got its name from a popular hang out called 'Druid Hill Park', where they sang gospel songs as kids!

They finally got their big break in 1996, when manager 'Haqq Islam' arranged for them to sign with 'Island Records', which led to the debut album self-titled "Dru Hill"...an eventual gold seller!

The album's first single "Tell Me" was featured on the sound track of 'Whoopi Goldberg's' film "Eddie", and was a 'Top-5 R&B' hit in the United States.

In 1998, thier second album 'Enter the Dru' featured single "How Deep Is Your Love", also a 'Top-5" hit, and featured on the soundtrack of the 'Jackie Chan' and 'Chris Tucker' film "Rush Hour".

Meanwhile, all four members took turns singing lead, with 'Mark "Sisqo" Andrews' making the biggest impression.

After the band split up just before 2000, it was 'Sisqo' who unleashed his smash album "Unleash the Dragon", who's single "Thong Song" established Sisqo as a household name outside of Dru Hill.

In 2002, the group reunited under the 'Def Soul Records' label, and added a fifth member, 'Rufus "Scola" Waller'.

Dru Hill's third hit album called "Dru World Order" was released in November of that year, and over the next few years, they would enjoy equal success touring with fellow R&B acts 'Toni Toni Toni', 'Bell Biv Devoe', and 'Keith Sweat'.

Just a few weeks ago, on July 27th, 2010, Dru Hill released their fourth album "InDRUpendence Day", along with three new singles.

Last Saturday, August 14th, they made that album's debut, performing at New Yorkk's 'Paradise Theater'.

Dru Hill also has a new T.V. show called "Keith Sweat's Platinum House", which first aired June 28th, 2010 on 'Centric' (cable), and, it appears Dru Hill....is still--a band on the rise!

Have you heard the saying “Time Does Not Stands Still For Anybody”. Well it sure doesn’t, I can’t hardly believe a year has past and Streetwise Radio is one year old. When Michael told me he was going to start a radio station, I thought that was cool. When Streetwise Radio started, I knew it was going to take off, because Michael was playing music the other stations weren’t.

Michael being the cool DJ that he is, has set his radio station up in categories Ultra Mix, Jazz Café, Big Splif’s 420 Reggae, Soul City and Big Hop. Streetwise Radio has a listener ship all over the world. It’s nice to sit at work and listen to music, it makes the day more enjoyable. My favorites are the Jazz Café from 12-1pm and Soul City 6-7pm. Reggae star Sugar Minott dies at 54

Minott died Saturday at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Jamaica's capital, Kingston, his wife Maxine Stowe said Sunday. She did not disclose the cause of death.

Sugar Minott who I met years ago at Reggae Sun Splash was
not only a great Reggae Singer but a Great Person. I remember chanting with him backstage.

Shelah Moody caught the entertainment bug at an early age. Her late father, Edward Moody, was an acclaimed pianist who used to bring her to his gigs as a child and introduced her to jazz greats such as Wynton Marsalis and Freddie Hubbard. .

Ms. Moody wrote her first concert review of Natalie Cole’s performance at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel in Honolulu, HI, where she grew up, for her elementary school newspaper at age ll. Her career path was confirmed as a pre-teen when she accompanied a local journalist and family friend to a Heatwave/Rose Royce concert and she always remembered the exhilarating feeling of being given her first backstage pass.

Ms. Moody Holds a B.A. in journalism and a master’s degree in ethnic studies.

She has contributed to the San Francisco Bay Guardian, the San Francisco Weekly, the San Francisco Bay View, www.cityflight.com, Honey Magazine, KPOO and others. Ms. Moody spent 12 years on staff at the San Francisco Chronicle, where she had a weekly column in the Style section and learned about podcasting and audio reporting. I personally took that wave from a rather uncommon beach called "Streetwise". What I mean is, I drive for a courier company called 'Streetwise Special Delivery' in Gilroy, California....where we deliver the goods by car, truck, boat, train, jet, and--internet radio!

Born and raised in San Jose CA dj Nard X took his talent to another level at the age of 6 years old when he started playing sports and his interests in music. His mother and father taught him how to strive and be the best in what he wanted to do in life, his mother was the athlete and his father was the musician Nard X had the best of both worlds. At the age of 10 he was really influenced by DJ GRANDMASTER FLASH on the turntables in the early 80's but it took his cousin DJ Eric "SPEEDY E Barbary to actually be a dj. At the age of 25 he signed his first professional baseball contract after college out of Cal State Hayward University. After his 9th season in playing professional baseball he new he was missing something and that was doing music, in the off season of 2003 he bought him a dj set and started working on his craft as a turntablist, a year later he started his own company DHB ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCTIONS in the bay area. At the present time he is still playing professional baseball in Europe and dj'n internationally from battle contest to getting down in the clubs. He also produces music across the globe and loving it.
